The competition has three catagories:
Below is a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section, but if you have any other questions, please email or text us. You can apply by filling in the form below or emailing us with the information. Once applications have been closed, you will be invited to an informal meet with the organisers and other contestants.
You will discuss your dish and ingredients with organizers to decide on a budget. Once diners start booking seats you will not be allowed to change your dish. Together with the organizers, you will pair the junior chefs starters and desserts with your meal to create a set menu which will be advertised.
All ingredients are chosen from our ‘Pantry Sponsors’ (you do not pay). You have a practise slot a week before. There is plenty of preperation time, the day before and on the day.
You cook, diners rate. Depending on the number of partcipents, the top cooks will advance to the final.
Firstly, this is meant to be fun and not stressful. So take a breath. We have professionals on hand who will assist you in deciding on ingredients, amounts, weights. Each cook has exactly the same assistants in the kitchen and service. And, you will get to practise your dish, well in advance.
We will keep the number of diners to a reasonable similar amount per cook. However, having more diners than another competitor does not mean any advantage as we use an averaging system based on the diners scores using the PTV System (Presentation, Taste, Value).
No, you do not have to pay any entry fee or pay for ingredients.
As soon as the applications have been received we will announce how many entries there are and the dinner dates. Because this is a leaderboard format, we can be flexible as to the number of entries and can cap them.
This is the most unique ingredient in the competition! Unlike the regular TV cooking shows where professional chefs judge the food, we have actual paying diners to Rate Your Plate!
The Pathway To Victory scoring system that the diners will use to rate your plate is based on Presentation, Taste and Value.
All contestents will buy their ingredients from our designated Pantry Partners, the day before the dinner or on the day when required. An assistant will shop with you to pay for the goods and help store and prepare.
Don’t worry, we have transport to take you shopping and can help if you need transport on the day.
Your competition is the same as the main course and is judged exactly the same way by the diners. There may be some requests by the organisers for your dish to be paired with a certain main course, but that would happen in any restaurant setting. For example you would not want to make a starter with a tomato sauce element when the main course was also tomato based.
We pair the junior cooks and their starters and desserts with the mains as best we can. For example, we wouldn’t want a fish starter with a fish main. Their plates are scored seperately from yours and therefore would not affect your score.
